SillyCTF 2 Rules

Age Requirement

All competitors must be at least 18 years old.

Bracket Eligibility

PSU Bracket:

  • Penn State students, faculty, and staff must register in the PSU bracket.
  • The PSU bracket is limited to four people per team.

Academic Bracket:

  • Current students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree-granting program at a university other than Penn State may register in the Academic bracket.
  • The Academic bracket does not have a team size limit.

Open Bracket:

  • Anyone not eligible for the PSU or Academic bracket may enroll in the Open bracket.
  • The Open bracket does not have a team size limit.

Prizes

The top PSU teams and top Academic teams will be eligible for prizes. There are separate prizes for the PSU and Academic brackets.

You agree that we may require verification of your identity and/or educational status before awarding any prizes. We may, at our sole discretion, decide not to award one or more prizes.

Team & Conduct Rules

  • No collaboration between teams is allowed.
  • Flag-sharing is not allowed and will result in disqualification.
  • Attempting to compromise the infrastructure, including the scoreboard, is not allowed and will result in disqualification.
  • Brute-forcing (fuzzing, dirbusting, etc.) is not required, is not permitted, and may result in disqualification.
  • Do not DM challenge authors to ask about challenges.

Legal Agreement

To the maximum extent permitted under applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless PSU, CCSO, event organizers, and all related parties from and against any and all claims, suits, actions, losses, expenses, damages, penalties, and costs, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, resulting from any actual or alleged violation of these CTF Rules by you and/or your participation in the CTF.
